CHRIS
TAYLOR
President
River Racer X
Born
in Burbank, California on December 25th, 1970 Chris
Taylor has spent most of his life on the water. Coming
from a very active family he was subjected to fast
boats at an early age. His family spent most of their
vacations camping and boating at the local lakes and
rivers found throughout California, so water skiing
and barefooting was learned quickly as well. The family
owned numerous boats throughout the years but spent
most of their time in a 1977 DiMarco runner bottom
T-deck with a built 454 pushing 90+ m.p.h.
Having a father who was heavily into racing drag boats
and cars, Chris also caught the disease. He started
riding Jet Skis and Dirt Bikes at age 10 and started
racing Jet Skis in 1988. He rode Novice 550 Modified
for 3 years, moving to Novice X-2 Modified and finished
his racing career at the end of 1996 on a Yamaha WaveBlaster
in the Expert Modified Sport class. Chris was also
sponsored by some of the top companies in the industry
including FOX Motocross Gear and White Brothers. During
that time he managed to grab handfuls of trophies
and placed fourth overall in the California series
during 1993, suffering a shattered tibia and fibula
in the process. After the cast came off 7 months later
he was back at it again.
His father also owned a Blown Alcohol Hydro drag boat
named "Hypertension" from 1990-1995 on which
Chris crewed for. The boat won the World Finals at
Firebird International Raceway in 1994.
Never getting too far from the water with fast boats
and motors Chris finally decided to purchase his own
boat in 1998. He landed on a 1996 Nordic 22
Sprint with a stock 454Mag and kept it for 2 years.
In late 2000 Chris and his father decided to purchase
together a brand new 2001 Nordic 28 Heat with
a stock Mercruiser 502, pumping out 415 horsepower.
With the new boat on its way Chris decided to
start his own website, RiverRacerX.com, which would
be devoted to his buddies and their boats. Little
did he know that less than 1 year later he would have
over 50K hits and over 200 members to a newly formed
boat club. Currently RiverRacerX.com gets between
2000 and 2500 hits a week and has become a local digital
hangout for performance boaters from around the country,
with its mass centered around Lake Havasu, AZ.
Chris continues to boat as often as possible and uses
the website only for good, not evil as he endlessly
searches for more new friends to hang out with at
the lake. It is not a vacation, it is a lifestyle,
and if you witness it you will understand. If you
make your way to Havasu, you will most likely see
Chris passing you by on his Nordic, but remember,
he may be easy to spot, but hard to catch!
